A Foundation for for Black Well-Being
Reimagining Reparations through the Lens of Black Healing.
A Meditation for Personal and Ancestral Healing
Excerpt from Reparations and Wholeness : A Path to Healing Justice by Danny Angelo Fluker Jr, Foreword by Etienne Maurice
With deep, slow breaths in and deep, slow breaths out, repeat aloud or internally…
In the moments where we sit and breathe and connect with our center, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.
In the moments when we eat food that we enjoy and that nourishes us, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.
In the moments when we choose movement practices that we enjoy, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.
In the moments when we find healthy rhythms of rest throughout the day and adequate sleep at night, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.
In the moments when we find practices and routines that remind us of who we are, that nurture our center, and that bring us home to ourselves, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.
In the moments when we connect with nature, with loved ones, and with something greater than what we perceive ourselves to be, we do so in the embodiment that our ancestors gave us.

Reader Review
Reparations and Wholeness explores a crucial theme of healing as a path to repair. The concepts presented are not just hopeful but also practical, and I believe they can become a reality in our lifetime with the right support. I can already see this book becoming a go-to reference for me. Thank you for getting these ideas out into the world. - Trey S.
The Numbers
Figurative and imaginative estimates follow.
A generation is 25-30 years. Envisioning that the Foundation be in existence for at least 1 generation, here are the numbers:
Cost of Operation = Annual Cost × Number of Years
Plugging in the numbers:
Cost of Operation = 200,000,000 × 29 = 5,800,000,000
The cost of operation for the Foundation to operate for 29 years at $200 million annually would be $5.8 billion.
Contemplate the essential role of this Healing Foundation, especially when assessed over a period of three decades or longer. Even if the Foundation were to disband after 30 years, the potential reach of its influence on millions of lives, and its subsequent impact on American society as a whole, cannot be overlooked. The healing journeys of persons within the African American community will unquestionably have a ripple effect, fostering greater well-being across the United States.
